Can a Widow Be Forced to Leave Her In-Laws' House After Her Husband's Death? Supreme Court Clarifies the Law

The Supreme Court has held that a widowed daughter-in-law cannot be left destitute merely because her husband has died. If she is unable to maintain herself, she can claim maintenance from the estate inherited by her father-in-law's legal heirs under the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, 1956.
