Grounds for Divorce:
Under Hindu Marriage Act (Section 13), common grounds include:

  • Cruelty

  • Adultery

  • Desertion for more than 2 years

  • Mental disorder

  • Conversion or renunciation

  • Mutual consent divorce (Section 13B)

Types of Divorce:

  • Contested Divorce: Filed by one spouse citing fault.

  • Mutual Consent Divorce: Filed jointly after one year of separation and mutual agreement.

  • Hindu Marriage Act, 1955

  • Special Marriage Act, 1954

  • Muslim Personal Law (Shariat)
