Can a Tenant Become Owner by Adverse Possession? Supreme Court Clarifies the Law
The Supreme Court has held that a tenant cannot claim ownership of rented property merely because he has remained in possession for several years. A tenant's possession is permissive, not hostile, and therefore the doctrine of adverse possession does not apply.
