Can Section 307 IPC (Now Section 109 BNS) Cases Be Quashed on the Basis of Compromise?
Can an FIR for attempt to murder be quashed after the parties settle their dispute? The Supreme Court has clarified that although Section 307 IPC is a serious non-compoundable offence, the High Court may quash criminal proceedings in appropriate cases where the dispute is predominantly personal and continuation of the trial would serve no useful purpose.
