Can Advocates File RTI Applications on Behalf of Clients? CIC Clarifies the Law

The Central Information Commission (CIC) has clarified that while an advocate can file an RTI application as a citizen, an advocate cannot use the RTI Act to seek information relating to cases being handled on behalf of a client.
